City Minister will bang the drum for
investment in the UK economy at a major Fintech conference today
[Thursday 10th October].
- Speaking ahead of the International Investment Summit next
week, which will bring together investors from around the world,
Ms Siddiq will use her keynote speech at Innovate Finance's
‘Fintech as a Force for Good' event to champion the UK as “the
home of Europe's Fintech unicorns” - with nearly half of all
Europe's Fintech unicorns based here.
- She is expected to confirm that the Government stands behind
the Fintech sector and will support it to grow and thrive, while
also announcing the launch of Innovate Finance's Pitch 360
project - which will provide FinTech entrepreneurs the
opportunity to pitch their business ideas to industry experts
across the UK to highlight expectational talent and emerging
technologies in the sector.
- The City Minister will then convene the UK's Unicorn Council
– which includes major retail Fintech companies such as Revolut
and Zilch – after her speech to discuss opportunities to go
further to drive growth in the sector and help smaller firms to
scale up.
- Ms Siddiq's call for investment will land ahead of the
International Investment Summit on 14th October, where
the Prime Minister and the Cabinet will have the opportunity to
set out modern Britain's strengths, with major FinTech companies
such as Monzo and Clearscore in attendance.
