Shabana Mahmood comments on BBC investigation finding serious failings in supervision of violent and sex offenders

Shabana Mahmood MP, Labour's Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on the BBC Panorama investigation finding serious failings in probation supervision of violent and sex offenders under the Conservatives, said:

“These revelations show the catastrophic state that our criminal justice system is in after 14 years of Conservative chaos.

“To make matters worse, from today criminals are being gifted an unprecedented 70 days early release from jail by the Tories. Now we also learn offenders aren't even being monitored properly after release. Communities are at risk under Rishi Sunak.

“Labour is the party of law and order. Our mission to make Britain's streets safe will raise confidence in the criminal justice system to its highest levels in a decade. It's time for change, to stop the Tory chaos, turn the page with Labour.”
