Hilary Benn responds to Leo Varadkar’s decision to resign as Taoiseach

Hilary Benn, Labour’s Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, responding to Leo Varadkar’s decision to resign as Taoiseach, said:

“Leo Varadkar has led his country through some momentous changes. Throughout, he has been totally committed to protecting the Good Friday Agreement and the peace it has brought.

“On behalf of the Labour Party, I wish him well for the future and look forward to working with his successor as we continue to strengthen the ties of friendship between our two countries.”
