Sunak and Starmer must back concrete actions to secure lasting
peace
A new poll has revealed a majority of people in Scotland think
and Sir have handled the UK's response
to the situation in Israel and Palestine 'badly'.
The YouGov poll of 2073 adults in Britain, conducted this week
between 29th February and 1st March, reveals six in ten people in
Scotland think Sunak (61%) and Starmer (57%) have handled the
UK's response badly, compared to just one in ten who think
they've handed it well.
Across Britain, four in ten people think Sunak (43%) and Starmer
(42%) have handled the UK's response badly, compared to
three in ten (27%) who think Sunak has handled it well and two in
ten (18%) who think Starmer has handled it well.
Commenting, SNP Foreign Affairs spokesperson Brendan O'Hara MP
said:
" and Sir 's failed approach to the
conflict in Gaza has been utterly shameful. By repeatedly
refusing to back calls for an immediate ceasefire, and by
refusing to condemn the collective punishment of the Palestinian
people, Westminster has effectively given the green light for the
continued destruction of Gaza.
"More than 30,000 Palestinian children, women and men have been
killed and huge swathes of Gaza have been obliterated, including
family homes, hospitals and refugee camps. The scenes overnight
show why an immediate ceasefire is essential.
"For those innocent civilians who have been killed over the past
five months, it is too late. Sunak and Starmer must stop
equivocating and finally back the concrete actions needed to
secure an immediate ceasefire and lasting peace through a two
state solution."
