The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee has
today published written evidence submissions for its Office for
Local Government (Oflog) inquiry.
The written evidence
published today includes evidence from a range of organisations
including the Local Government Association (LGA), the Institute
of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the
Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA),
the District Councils Network (DCN), SIGOMA, London Councils, the
Centre for Governance and Scrutiny (CfGS), South East Councils,
and the London Borough of Hounslow.
The written evidence submissions cover a range of
issues relating to the Committee’s inquiry, including
concerns about Oflog’s role in supporting the self improvement of
local government and central Government’s aims of delivering
levelling up.
Submissions also cover: the independence of Oflog; Oflog’s
consultation and engagement with local authorities Oflog’s ‘Early
Warning Conversations’ with local authorities and the development
of Oflog’s ‘Local Authority Data Explorer’.
The Committee’s inquiry is looking at the remit of this new body
and how it will engage with local authorities to help raise
performance and improve outcomes for people and places.
On Monday 19 February, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
(LUHC) Committee began its inquiry with oral
questions to Lord Amyas Morse (Interim Chair) and Josh Goodman
(Chief Executive) (see transcript of 19 February
session).
