Bridget Phillipson comments on findings that early years providers will be unable to meet childcare demand

Bridget Phillipson MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on findings from the Early Years Alliance that early years providers are expected to be unable to meet childcare demand under the extended entitlement offer, said:

“The Conservatives’ childcare pledge without a plan is crumbling with every passing day.

“Offering more funded hours without the places or staff to deliver them is no good to parents increasingly locked out of the workplace and the youngest children who need good quality early years education.

“Families are crying out for a childcare system that better supports them, giving parents choices about work and children better life chances: that’s what they’ll get from Labour, with our expert review drawing up a long-term plan for reform of early years education.”
