SLC is encouraging prospective students to starting planning
their student finance as Student Finance England
(SFE) launches its mailing
list The full-time, undergraduate application service
for the 24/25 academic year is expected to open in March 2024,
and by signing up, students will be among the first to
receive an email when the application service goes live.
SLC advises students to apply as early as possible for their
student finance, even if they don’t have a confirmed place on
their course. This helps to ensure that their funding is in place
at the start of term. Students in England can apply for Tuition
Fee Loans to cover their fees and Maintenance Loans to help with
their living costs.
Jackie Currie, SLC Executive Director, Operations said: “SLC is
committed to enabling opportunity through access to higher and
further education, and we want to encourage as many students as
possible to apply for student finance early, to ensure they have
their funding in place at term start.
“I would like to remind and reassure students that they can apply
for student finance even if they don’t know what university
they are going to attend or the exact course they are going to be
on. They should apply using the details of the course they will
likely study, and these can be updated later if their plans
change. The key message from me is that they should apply as
early as they can. This allows us to process the application and,
if needed, make any requests for additional information or
clarification in plenty of time for the academic year getting
underway in September.”
