After sauntered off to his shed,
took the reins, but she was a
hapless leader who could never grip the challenges facing our
country.
She was always more interested in trying to control
Tory infighting than getting a good Brexit deal for
the country, and in the end, she achieved neither.
In May's six years as Home Secretary, she created the “hostile
environment”. This did nothing to bring down net migration but
did succeed in criminalising British citizens with every right to
be here.
The chaos of the Windrush scandal exploded on
her watch, as Britons were illegally deported, and a Cabinet
minister resigned.
For all May's tough talk, it didn't have any impact on
immigration figures – and the Tories once again failed
to deliver on their promises.
And as for the NHS, she was forced to apologise for the
winter crisis, which has now become a permanent feature
of our health service.
May famously declared “nothing has changed” when
she was forced to U-turn on her “dementia tax” during the snap
general election of 2017. And in a way, she was right.
Tory chaos continued unabated.
Theresa May's ineffective leadership also meant that barely a
week went by without scandal or division:
- She led the first government in history to be found
in contempt of parliament
- Over a hundred of her own MPs voted no confidence in
her
-
More than 50 ministers resigned from her
administration as the Tories focused more on tearing strips off
each other than working for the British people.
This constant Tory chaos meant that important decisions about the
UK's infrastructure future,like HS2,
were kicked down the road.
Her premiership was defined by Tory party infighting at the
expense of the country, letting problems go unsolved
and the chaos to continue.
By the time she finally left office, had paved the way for the
arrival of .
After 14 years of Tory chaos, it's time to turn the
page on this mayhem.
